BUILDING SCHEDULE - WEDNESDAY & SATURDAY - 8:30 AM TO 3:00 PM. KELLY STREET IN MONTROSE. We will soon be RAISING THE ROOF - the basement is in, the walls are going up and we can use your help. If you are not able to help build, perhaps you could provide lunch for our hungry volunteers. |
|
A large percentage of residents in Susquehanna County are burdened with living
expenses beyond their means and live in sub-standard housing. They have no chance of
owning their own home or rehabilitating their present home. With the aid of Habitat for
Humanity, qualified families who apply and are selected are given an opportunity to invest
their own labor ("sweat equity") into building or rehabilitating their homes and
the homes of others.
A HAND UP, NOT A HAND OUT |
|
|
| Habitat seeks to build lives as well as
houses. Once the Habitat homeowner moves into a house, the Family Nurturing Committee
offers guidance as needed, enabling them to become self-sufficient and an asset to their
community. |
| Habitat brings people from all walks of
life together to put their faith into action by making affordable, decent housing and
better communities a reality for everyone. |
| Habitat for Humanity was founded by Millard and Linda Fuller in 1976 in Americus, GA.
They developed the concept of "Partnership Housing," where those in need work
side by side with volunteers, to build simple, decent houses. |
|
Affiliates of Habitat International are in every state and over 50 countries. Habitat of Susquehanna County is raising funds to build or rehabilitate houses in our community. 10% of funds donated to use will be used to build communities in less fortunate countries. |
| For Habitat to meet its goals, we need your help and
support. |
